The Division of Plastic Surgery
The Division of Plastic Surgery was founded in the year 1958 at the University of Toronto. They offer a comprehensive approach in clinical care and research for plastic surgery of the body, face and extremities. All the surgeons of this division are the associates of Harvard Medical School and execute a large number of methods in the field of plastic surgery. The team includes 9 plastic surgeons which provide the services full time at the Children’s Hospital Boston and Brigham and Women’sHospital.
This organization is a renowned leader in the reconstructive and plastic surgery. The plastic surgeons offer a wide variety of pediatric and adult services to both these hospitals. There are some special clinics in which plastic surgery procedures are performed such as craniofacial deformities, pediatric hand problems, cleft lip and palate and vascular anomalies.
The Division of plastic surgery includes the activities of 23 surgeons at the Hospital for Sick Children, University Health Network, Sunnybrook and Women’s Health Science Centre, St. Michael’s Wellesley Hospital and St. Joseph ’s Health Centre offering clinical knowledge in all the fields of plastic surgery. The growth of specific areas of knowledge has been the main spotlight of this division in the last decade. This Division is implicated in both basic science and clinical research.
The surgeons research in various fields such as epidemiology, muscle, skin and bone physiology, tissue engineering and diagnostic imaging, education, wound healing and microsurgery. A training program is also conducted for the residents in both research and clinical activities. The Division also offers options in Microsurgery, Hand Surgery and Rehabilitation, Upper Extremity, Aesthetic Surgery, Flap Anatomy and many more.

The Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery offers analysis and cure for acquired and congenital deformities. Each plastic surgeon works with his full interest and skills with the aim of being on the number one position. During the Ist World War, number of people suffers from burn injuries and wounds and the number of plastic surgeons in Europe performs various plastic surgery procedures on them. At the end of the war, Dr. Robert H. Ivy starts his practice of plastic surgery and training program at the University of Pennsylvania . He was a very famous plastic surgeon at that time in the United States .
