Plastic Surgery Deaths
Plastic surgery involves some good benefits and causes some side effects, risks or complications also. When the condition becomes worse, then it leads to number of deaths. There are about millions of people who undergo plastic surgery for plumping, tucking, lifting, reshaping and peeling the body. Numbers of people pursue plastic surgery for looking young, fresh and healthy and there are a large number of cases each year causing deaths due to plastic surgery. Some of the deaths are caused during plastic surgery at the time of giving anesthesia and there are some deaths which are caused in the office of the surgeon while performing it.
About 36 people died after pursuing plastic surgery in Florida in the year 1997 which are caused in the private offices instead of hospitals. The evidence shows that anesthesiologists and plastic surgeons are accountable for the irresistible majority of all the deaths and serious complications during plastic surgery. Some of the deaths are caused because of the plastic surgeons who are not certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and performs the surgery. So, it is the duty of the patients to have complete information about the plastic surgeon before undergoing any type of plastic surgery.
The rate of death from liposuction, the very famous cosmetic surgery which is mainly performed in the clinics and offices of doctors is about 20-60 times higher than the rate of death which is performed in various hospitals as stated by the survey records. The patients in hospitals who pursue various kinds of plastic surgery involve dangerous methods and the ratio of death rate is 1 in 100,000 – 1 in 300,000.
In this procedure, deaths are generally caused due to the several factors such as anesthesia problems, blood clots and internal injuries suffered by the patients after the execution of the liposuction methods. The survey shows that in the year 1994 – 1998, 5000 liposuction methods were performed and only one patient died out of every 95 patients.
The increase in death rate is not only seen in the adults pursuing plastic surgery but teenagers also put themselves at a high risk and often are the victims of death. In the year 2003, about 336,000 teenagers at 18 or below 18 years pursued some type of cosmetic surgery procedures.
Every plastic surgery performed contains some complications and risks and some procedures are very difficult to perform and there are more chances of causing deaths of the patient. For example, writer of ‘The FirstWives Club’ and the wife of a cardiologist in New York died after performing cosmetic surgery.
