Endoscopic Plastic Surgery

Endoscopy is a surgical procedure that includes endoscope which is a unique presenting device that enables the surgeon to observe the images of the internal composition of the body during small cuts. This type of surgery is used in various procedures such as tubal ligation, gallbladder removal and knee surgery. But endoscopic instruments are recently introduced in the world of plastic surgery. Endoscopic plastic surgery is used in a restricted center for both reconstructive and cosmetic procedures.

Endoscope

An endoscope involves two main parts such as a tubular probe is attached with a bright light and a tiny camera which is inserted during a small cut and presenting screen by which diffused images of the internal structures of the body are magnified. Endoscope is used by the surgeon while performing plastic surgery and by moving the tube of the endoscope he observes the screen through the surgical region. The endoscope acts as a presenting device only. While performing the plastic surgery, the parts of surgical device like scissors, scalpel or the forceps are inserted through a special tip of opening and are influenced within the tissue.

Advantages of Endoscopic Plastic Surgery

All the plastic surgeries carry various risks and every cut leaves a scar behind it. So, using endoscope in a plastic surgery, the scars becomes invisible and some of the following effects of any type of surgery will be reduced. In this procedure, a small cut of less than 1 inch long requires the insertion of instruments and endoscope probe. As the cuts seem small with endoscope, the danger of loss of sensory from nerve injury is reduced. Bruising, bleeding and swelling are also decreased. With the endoscopic plastic surgery, one can recover more rapidly. This surgery also enables the patients to prevent an overnight stay in the hospital.
