Penile Plastic Surgery

Penile plastic surgery is also known as phalloplasty. There are about 250,000 men who are pursuing penile plastic surgery worldwide and most of them are from the US. This type of surgery refers to the enhancement of penile which includes one or both main methods. The first procedure includes escalating the length by trimming the ligament and making a cut at the bottom of the penis that is attached to the pubic bone.

This in turn generates the part of the penis to decrease forwards and providing the delusion of more prolonged about an inch and can be extended up to two and a half inches. The second procedure includes enlarging of the penis and adding the restraint to the penis. To achieve this, a filler material is inserted beneath the skin of the penis and girth can be increased up to 30 percent.

How Penile Plastic Surgery is performed?

This type of plastic surgery is performed in an outpatient surgical center by a hospital facility or a surgeon. This surgery takes about one and a half or 2 hours but it depends on the level of the method and it can also take longer time. Both the procedures cannot be performed at the same time.

Enlarging procedure is executed under general anesthesia. Cuts are made at the base of the penis and are attached to the pubic area. Then the penis is unrestricted from the parts to the pubic symphysis. Then the gaps are allowed to close using local tissue. New extensive penis is covered with the skin taken from the pubic area or the penis.

Widening of the penis is done through various methods through grafting or a free fat transfer. The materials generally used for grafts are dermis-fat and ALLODERM.

Dermis-Fat Graft

This method includes producing a block of skin with fat which is attached to the pubic area taken from the lower abdomen on top of the pubic hairline or from other portions of the body.

Free-Fat Transfer

This procedure is performed by giving local anesthesia along with a sedative. In this procedure, the fat is collected with the help of liposuction and then it is moved to the penis.

Risks or Side Effects of Penile Plastic Surgery

  • Function may be altered
  • Infection
  • Sensation may be completely lost or altered
  • Bruising, swelling and mild discomfort arises
  • Bleeding may arise and this needs further surgical treatment
  • Poor scarring may arise and delayed wound healing
  • Erections can be more horizontal than vertical
  • Smoking can increase the complications in performing penile plastic surgery

Costs of Penile Plastic Surgery

The cost depends on the type of procedure undertaken by the patient. Penile widening involves cost ranging from $7000 to $8000 and penile lengthening involves cost ranging from $4000 to $6000. Penile widening is costlier than penile lengthening as in this procedure, filler materials are used.
