Teenager Plastic Surgery

Plastic surgery is not only pursued by adult men and women but teenagers also pursue them at a very young age. About 326,233 cosmetic procedures were executed on the teenagers of 18 years of age or less than 18 in the year 2004 as stated by the AmericanSociety of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. Microdermabrasion for acne treatment and non-surgical chemical peels are the most general methods which are pursued by the teenagers under 18 years of age.

Other plastic surgery procedures performed on teenagers are rhinoplasty, otoplasty, liposuction, breast augmentation and gynecomastia correction. The bad appearance of the body completely affects the teenagers emotionally and psychologically. So, plastic surgery procedures are the best ways to improve the image of the body. If teenagers wish to modify the specific features such as scars, skin blemishes, birthmarks and facial anomalies as a result of any disease or injury, then facial plastic surgery is recommended to them by a surgeon.

Teenager patients require special care after performing plastic surgery due to the factors such as degree of deformity, growing body, decision making capacity and the part affected. The teenagers can increase their knowledge about plastic surgery through movies, magazines, television and advertising and then make a decision for pursuing plastic surgery.

Before undergoing plastic surgery, teenagers should have complete information about it and should have thorough information about the surgeon who will perform the surgery. Plastic surgeons should be certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Parents of the teenagers are also equally responsible while taking the decision of pursuing plastic surgery by their child.
